Pant Climbs to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Retains Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The ICC Test rankings have been updated, reflecting the impact of recent performances in both Test and T20I cricket. The latest rankings showcase significant movements, particularly following the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley, with Rishabh Pant and Ben Duckett achieving new career-high rankings.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings after an outstanding performance at Headingley. He scored 134 and 118 in the match, becoming only the second wicketkeeper, after Andy Flower, to achieve centuries in both innings of a Test. Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter, while Harry Brook is still in second place. Shubman Gill of India has climbed five places to 20th after his century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, maintains his position as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler. His recent five-wicket haul at Headingley further solidifies his dominance. Ben Stokes of England has moved up three places to fifth in the Test all-rounder rankings after valuable contributions with both bat and ball.
The T20I rankings have also seen changes following the tri-series in Glasgow, involving the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Michael Levitt from the Netherlands has jumped 16 places to 14th due to consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made a significant leap, climbing 20 spots to 38th.
The ICC rankings continue to be a key indicator of individual performance and reflect the evolving landscape of international cricket.
