Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's Parenting Philosophy: A Family Unit Approach
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are celebrated as one of India's most beloved celebrity couples, admired for their enduring love and their thoughtful approach to family and parenting. Their relationship, which began in 2013 during a commercial shoot, quickly charmed fans with their genuine connection both on and off camera.
The couple married in a beautiful ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Their family expanded with the birth of their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, in February 2024.
A Unified Family Front
In a past interview with Vogue, Anushka shared insights into their parenting goals. She emphasized, "We don’t see it as mum and dad duties, but as a family unit. For us, it’s important that our child be raised with a very balanced outlook. In Virat’s case, he plays around the year. What becomes important is the time we spend together as a family.” This perspective highlights their commitment to shared responsibilities and creating a balanced environment for their children.
Leading by Example
Anushka also discussed the significance of parents as role models. "Times have changed. It’s important for children to look at parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work.” She underscored the importance of children observing their parents' work ethic and the balance between professional and personal life.
Prioritizing Privacy
Unlike many celebrity couples, Anushka and Virat have chosen to keep their children away from the public eye. They rarely post photos of their kids on social media, deliberately protecting their family's privacy. Anushka explained, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.” Their decision reflects a commitment to allowing their children to choose their own relationship with the public sphere.
Anushka's last on-screen appearance was a cameo in the OTT film ‘Qala’. Currently, she is embracing motherhood and focusing on her family life.
