Music and color

Night. Fire of ritual bonfires, dance to the rhythmic beat of drums, song of a shaman, heated up with body movements in bright clothes …

Even in ancient times, people felt that music and color were magically connected and tried to find this connection.

In the seventeenth century, the great physicist Isaac Newton imposed a light spectrum on the musical octave: the note “do” corresponded to red, “re” – purple, “mi” – blue, “fa” – blue, “salt” – green, “la” – yellow, si is orange. After him, many scientists continued their research. Russian composer A.N. Scriabin, who had a color hearing by nature, built his spectrum in which the note “do” stood for red, “re” for yellow, “la” for green, “mi” and “si” for blue-whitish, and “fa” for bright blue , “Salt” is orange-pink.

In addition to Scriabin, Liszt, Rimsky — Korsakov, Berlioz, Wagner had the same unique gift, however, some of them built color correspondences differently. And yet, it is Scriabin who is considered the founder of color music.

Music and color: psychological impact
Of course, among people far from such subtleties, color hearing is a rarity and yet we also subconsciously feel the shades of music and listen only to the one that is “painted” in colors that are pleasant to us.

Scientists using special equipment have found that calm, romantic music is painted in shades of pink. Not without reason in psychology the pink color represents love, kindness, romance. It calms, relieves depression.

Sharp, aggressive music has colors from dark blue to red. Dark blue causes anxiety, sadness, leads to depression. Red acts excitingly on the nervous system, leading to aggression.

Strip music is painted in blue. It relieves stress, gives a feeling of comfort, soothes.

Popular songs downloaded from the Internet, often green or orange. Green helps to get rid of negative emotions, relax, and helps to fall asleep. Orange – causes euphoric states, helps restore lost balance. It is considered one of the best colors in psychology.

That music, which is not very popular, is usually brown or poisonous yellow. The brown tint of music – causes disappointment and depression, yellow – provokes conflicts, many associated with the disease.

Of course, this is only the most general information about the impact on the human psyche of music and color, but even this amount of information clearly illustrates how you can use their magical effect on our mood and well-being.

California scientists have made really impressive conclusions about the beneficial effects of music on the human brain.

In the course of their unusual study, they found that playing musical instruments favors a significant reduction in the risk of dementia in older people – this was concluded by scientists on the basis of their study.

So, on the basis of the study, classes on various musical instruments reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s syndrome and other types of dementia by 36%!

As “experimental” American scientists tested identical twins. Scientists based their choice on the fact that when one of the subjects shows signs of dementia (dementia), it is possible to predict the degree of risk of a disease in the first, and also to determine factors that allow to remain healthy in the second.

157 couples took part in this experiment. Scientists were able to find out that the twin who owned the musical instrument was less prone to developing Alzheimer’s syndrome than his brother. Scientists have focused on the physical and social characteristics of the participants.

Scientists from America claim that the results of the experiment are not distorted by natural factors: heredity and the conditions in which the twins grew up.

According to the results of the study, the following fact became apparent: the game, even on one musical instrument, is conducive to the fact that the human brain is much more effective in counteracting negative influences.
